Monty brings a diverse blend of agency, corporate and political communications experience to work for our clients. Prior to founding RLF Communications, Monty served as a managing partner at Trone, an integrated agency with 100 professionals and as president of Capstrat, a leading public relations and public affairs firm. Prior to switching to agency life in 1996, Monty was vice president for strategic communications with First Union (now Wells Fargo) in Charlotte.
Monty is actively involved with the North Carolina Film Council, the Board of Advisors for the Department of Communication Studies at UNC-Chapel Hill (board chair from 1996-2001), the Board of Visitors for UNC-Greensboro and the 2012 U.S. Master’s Swimming National Championships. He also serves in leadership roles in a number of professional organizations such as the WORLDCOM Public Relations Group, the Public Relations Society of America and the Council of Public Relations Firms. Monty graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies and has a master's degree in applied communication theory from Temple University.
