Spring Intern Spotlight – Maggie Hayes

The best way to learn many skills is not through a classroom or a lecture, but through hands-on experience. At RLF, we feel it’s important to give our interns the opportunity to try as many things as possible, whether that’s building media lists, writing press releases or ad copy or pitching reporters.intern

This spring we have three interns joining us. Meet Maggie Hayes, a senior at Elon University.

“I am from New Jersey and came down south to avoid the cold weather. I am majoring in strategic communications with a minor in sociology. My favorite things are binge watching TV shows, reading and traveling.”

What is your dream job?

My dream job is to work at a big PR firm in either New York City or Boston. So far through my internship experience at agencies I’ve loved working on different accounts and taking on different aspects of public relations. I’d love to continue doing this type of work post-grad.

What has been one of your favorite experiences?

In Fall of 2017 I studied abroad in Prague. Prior to that, I had never traveled to Europe, so being able to travel to different countries every other weekend was a whirlwind experience for me. I fell in love with Prague, its history, and its culture, especially the architecture which looks similar to what you would imagine a city in a fairy-tale looking like. I hope one day when I get older, I can go back and visit when I have a family of my own.

What are your favorite foods?

Despite being 22, I am unfortunately still very picky when it comes to eating. My favorite foods are truly anything that contains dairy or carbs, however, some of my ultimate favorites are mozzarella sticks, pizza and mac and cheese.

What is your favorite part about working for RLF?

So far one of my favorite things about working at RLF is the company culture. RLF has really cultivated an environment that has allowed me to do my best work and gain valuable experience. My coworkers are kind, talented and, most importantly, more than willing to answer my questions or give advice in regard to my work. Not to mention having Nigel the dog walk around the office everyday has been a major plus.
