Identifying a sector in the communications field that is the right fit for each person can be challenging. Public relations professionals work for a variety of businesses, nonprofits and government companies both nationally and internationally.
At RLF, interns are exposed to agency life. They get a firsthand look at how professionals multitask, work in teams and move forward in a fast-paced environment. Then, they are one step closer to narrowing down where they want to start their future career.
Our final summer intern spotlight is on Heather.
School & Year: Senior at UNC-Chapel Hill
Do you have any hidden talents?
Not really. I like to think I can sing, but that is far from true.
If you could host a talk show, who would be your first guest?
Beyoncé Knowles would be the first guest on my talk show. I have looked up to her since I was a little girl and I dreamed of being her. But after a year or two of singing lessons, I realized that I am essentially tone deaf and all of my hopes went out the window. Nevertheless, I continued to look up to Beyoncé. Of all the great things about her, I admire her work ethic the most. If I had the opportunity to have Queen Bey on my talk show, I would ask her what motivates her to work as hard as she does.
What fictional place would you like to visit?
Growing up my favorite cartoon was The Flintstones, so I would love to visit Bedrock and go bowling or watch a movie at the drive-in theater.
Name 3 things you think would be obsolete in 10 years.
House phones, text books and CDs.
What is your dream job?
Well, considering my obsession with Beyoncé, my dream job is to be her publicist.
