Summer Intern Spotlight – Jessie Grady

By Madison Croxson
In the modern job market, it’s all about who you know and what you’ve done. That is one of the reasons why RLF strives to hire new interns every 3 to 4 months and give them access to the hands-on experience and industry contacts they need to help them succeed after college. The other half of the equation is the unmatched energy and fresh eyes that our interns always bring to the team.
Each of our interns has the opportunity to work in different disciplines on a variety of client accounts. Learn more about them and their experience thus far at RLF in our 2017 Intern Spotlight Summer Series.
Our first featured intern of the summer is Jessie Grady.
“I am from the Cleveland, Ohio…where we “Believe in The Land and Defend The Land.” I graduated from the illustrious North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University with a bachelor’s degree in public relations. I love a good book and watching Serena Williams slay the court. And if you were wondering, yes, I still root for The Cleveland Browns.”

What is your dream job?
Besides having my own PR firm, my ultimate dream job is to be the best mom ever. Everything I do now is for my future self and family. I want to leave a legacy with my children. Plus, I  have some pretty powerful mothers in my family and I really look up to them.
What is your favorite song to sing in the shower?
I love singing Jill Scott in the shower. Her music is so chill, perfect for early-morning-before-work showers.
What made you want to work with RLF? How did you find out about us?
I found this opportunity through the Greensboro Fellows Program. What drew me to RLF was the culture and the different experiences I felt RLF could offer me.
What is your favorite trip that you’ve ever taken and why?
That would be my first trip to South Carolina. I was 11 and it was my first plane ride. I was an unaccompanied minor, so I got the best service. They gave me snacks and juice the entire trip and I got to meet the captain after. I felt like a superstar.
Do you have any hidden talents?
I’m really creative. I love creating new things with my hands. I’ve recently picked up watercolor paints and I LOVE IT!
What does success look like to you?
To me, success is measured through happiness. Do whatever makes you happy, to your best ability and you will forever be successful.
What’s your favorite thing about the RLF office?
The culture. I love that we laugh and joke together. I also love that everyone is approachable and willing to help you. Oh, and I can’t forget about the dogs!
