THE SITUATION
The primary focus of the Crystal Coast Tourism Development Authority (CCTDA) is to attract visitors, but CCTDA saw a growing need for education and outreach to emphasize the vital economic role the tourism industry plays in the community.

RLF’S APPROACH
RLF developed a campaign for CCTDA that fostered a deeper understanding of tourism’s importance to Carteret County’s economy and quality of life. RLF aimed to build stronger relationships with business leaders and other stakeholders while educating the general public.
The multimedia “Sand Dollars: Thriving on Tourism” encapsulated the industry’s positive impact in terms of revenues, jobs and amenities. The campaign included social media spotlights on local businesses, press releases exploring tourism’s impact, an informational website, a direct mail campaign, e-newsletters and other informational materials.

RESULTS
The campaign improved public sentiment toward tourism and heightened awareness of its importance among local businesses and community stakeholders.
